The Avatarsequels have been in development basically since the original Avataropened in 2009. The original plan was to release two sequels in 2014 and 2015. Then it was going to be three sequels in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
As of last month, Avatar 2is on track to arrive December 18, 2020, followed by Avatar 3in 2021, Avatar 4in 2024, and Avatar 5in 2025.
But if there's one thing we've learned from reporting on the Avatarsequels over the years, it's that we're all better off not holding our breath. Avatar 2will get here when it gets here – and when it does, it'll probably make all the money.
