In the realm of New York City subway trains and audre lorde's essay on eroticismthe animals that wind up on them, snakes are by far the most disturbing.
In what is truly a nightmare to behold, this brief clip from Reddit user MayoMouth shows a large snake lounging on an L-train pole. The snake's presumptive owner sits casually below and then stands to retrieve his pet.

"He and another guy who was with him were passing it around the car and while they weren't charging people, they wouldask for donations when someone asked to hold it. Said something about having a lot of snakes to feed back at the sanctuary/adoption place or something like that, who knows..."
Though a snake on public transit is always an unwelcome surprise, as Gothamist points out, it's also nothing new. In June a similar snake was spotted on the L train. There's even a Twitter account devoted to subway snake sightings.
The real question here is: if it's a choice between snake train, or mystery crab train, which are you taking?
