At the time of writing, three out of top 10 trending videos on YouTube in India were about people performing water test on the new Rs 2,000 notes. One of the videos has already clocked over 5.4 million views.

Many people in India are also curious to know whether the new currency notes have a "Nano GPS chip" embedded in them after rumors started circulating on WhatsApp even before Prime Minister Modi announced the new currency notes.

The rumor suggested that the government is using these supposed Nano GPS chips to track cash movement. These speculations and rumors were debunked by India's Finance Minister Arun Jaitley last week, but the matter is far from being over.

Reading the comments on these videos, it has become apparent that many people are having no issues believing these false theories. A quick search on YouTube returns several more such videos that have been uploaded in the past few days.
