"We care deeply about creating an environment at Google where everyone -- employees and contractors, engineers, cafeteria workers and janitorial staff -- feels comfortable doing so. We’re asking managers to be flexible in accommodating time-off requests and have let our vendor partners know that we support them doing the same."
The demonstration is seen as pro-immigration.
Brandworkers, an organizer of food industry employees, is rallying strikers against "government and corporate interests" that they say "escalate immigration raids that are shattering families" and "drive down wages, safety protections, and organizing rights while rapidly destroying the environment."
With its announcement, Google is following Facebook. Earlier this month, the social network announced its support of employees who want to protest and said it would reexamine its relationship with any of the company's contractors that violate the law by moving to stop employees who want to protest.
