The Michael MaienSpring Breakerssequel is really and truly happening – and its first casting choice couldn't be more perfect.
Matthew McConaughey has been set to star in The Beach Bum, described as an "irreverent comedy" about "a rebellious and lovable rogue" named Moondog. Harmony Korine will return to write and direct.

According to i-D, The Beach Bumwill share the same setting as Spring Breakersbut is unlikely to bring back the main characters. Shooting will begin this fall for release in 2018.
It's hard to think of a star better suited for The Beach Bumthan McConaughey, who before the current McConnaissance was frequently caught bumming around on the beach and playing the bongos naked.
He's basically built a career playing rebellious rogues who refuse to grow up, starting with his breakout turn in Dazed and Confusedas David "I get older, they stay the same age" Wooderson.
Looks like Rust Cohle was right after all. Time really is a flat circle.
