Jon Lester is Bollywood Archivesa starting pitcher for the Chicago Cubs. Lester Holt is the anchor of NBC Nightly News.
They are not the same person.
But they do have two things in common — they're both named Lester and they both use Twitter. So when some viewers of last week's presidential debate shared their thoughts on Twitter, they got their Lesters mixed up.
Holt, who hosted the debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, drew criticism for his moderation, or lack thereof, according to some. But when folks tried to tweet their opinions at Holt, the moderator, they instead tweeted at Lester, the pitcher.
It seemed to get lost in the debate aftermath, but Lester made sure to inform everyone that they had the wrong guy.
@cirstenw I think you have the wrong Lester

@IamyHuckleberry Whoa buddy, pretty sure you have the wrong Lester.

@thephilosotroll I'm sure Lester Holt would appreciate that, you should tweet at him

Some of the initial Tweets have since been deleted, but Lester had some pretty brilliant — and remarkably patient — responses.
@SharNeal hey Sharon, might want to dig a little deeper in your Twitter search. I think you meant @LesterHoltNBC
— Jon Lester (@JLester34) September 27, 2016
@MikeBrowne44 I'll be pretty busy doing my own thing so I think I'll be okay. Perhaps you should send this to Lester Holt
— Jon Lester (@JLester34) September 27, 2016
@TerryMcIver well I'm not a gymnast but I'm also not the Lester Holt.
— Jon Lester (@JLester34) September 27, 2016
Holt won't be hosting any of the remaining presidential debates.
But as Lester's Cubs enter the 2016 postseason, passionate baseball fans be aware — you're probably looking for @JLester34, not @LesterHoltNBC.
