The financial drama allegedly stems from the 2016 release of West's hit album, The Life of Pablo. West was supposed to get a bonus for the 1.5 million new subscribers it brought to Tidal, but the rapper was never paid, TMZsaid.
Allegedly, West was also not reimbursed for music videos, but Tidal says he didn't deliver on them as his contract required.
The report from TMZstates that Tidal still has an "exclusive contract" with West, and if he goes to another streaming service, the company will sue him.
But West may be washing his hands of streaming services entirely, Complexreported, in an effort to avoid limiting the initial reach of his music before it makes its way onto other platforms.
Just last week, JAY-Z, who owns Tidal, allegedly dissed West on a track on his newly released album, 4:44. While it makes for fun speculation here, the situation between West and Tidal is reportedly unrelated to JAY-Z's diss.
Neither West nor JAY-Z have publicly commented on the situation.
