Even with all the crap going on xxx tv showin the world, you can always count on the internet to come up with something stupidly wonderful to distract you from reality and cheer you up.
Alex Holachek's "Reaction GIF Generator" (via BoingBoing) isn't your typical GIF generator. In what must have been a clever napkin idea, Holachek decided it would be brilliant to combine the randomness of Giphy with Microsoft's Emotion API, which uses machine learning to detect between eight distinct, universal emotions (anger, contempt, disgust, fear, happiness, neutral, sadness, and surprise).
The result of her mashup is this hilarious GIF generator that analyzes your selfie and then spits out a GIF to match your facial expression.
Needless to say, I had to try it out for myself. And the results were pretty spot-on (and somewhat embarrassing) most of the time. See for yourself:
Don't like the GIF you got? You've got options! You can retake a selfie and let the magic algorithm re-analyze your face. OR, you can just select another GIF with the "previous" and "next" buttons.
The only thing the Reaction GIF Generator needs is a way to share these reaction GIFs to social media. Holachek, if you're reading, make it happen!
